So, What do You do? 5 Things a Real Estate Agent Does Want to Say

  1. “I’m a Real Estate Agent with this particular Real Estate Agency. We have the most listings of any Agency in town”.
  1. “I’m licensed to sell Real Estate in North Carolina and South Carolina”.
  1. “I represent the Buyer and the Seller”, so I can list your house and then find you another house”.

  1. “I have been doing this for 10 years, and have won awards.”
  1. “I can tell you what your house is worth. I have sold my listings for more than asking price.”

No one really cares what you do, or how you do it.  They want to know results that may help them.  Provide just enough information to create curiosity and spark a conversation.  Such as “I am a real estate agent and I sell really ugly houses.”   Really?  Tell me more.

The results that you get will make more of a lasting impression than facts and figures.  If the person needs a realtor to list their house, or wants to buy a house, they are listening for how you have succeeded with other people.  A story.

Since the elevator pitch is usually 20 to 30 seconds, that doesn’t leave a lot of wiggle room. Start with a question and state the problem, they tell them how you are the solution. You have to know exactly what to say and have it memorized.

Here’s an example:

“You know how it’s hard to sell a house that is below street level?  Well, what I do is show people how landscaping can change the whole look of the property, and the house sells very quickly.  So, as a real estate agent, I get a lot of listings because I get results.”
